  • EM is looking for interracial, biracial, or African American hopeful adoptive parents looking to parent their first child. This would be a semi-open adoption. At this time she does not want to meet the HAPs, she will be making a selection based on the profile book. She might want to meet at the hospital but is unsure.

    She would like to set up child connect for pictures and updates for her to have access to when she is ready and comfortable to view. She is open to the child contacting her upon reaching adulthood

  • The EM mother wants an African American or African American/Caucasian family under the age of 45, with no children. She is open to same-sex couples but not single parents.

  • The baby is a girl due March 10, medical records don’t show any medical concerns with the mother or baby.

    She has been getting regular prenatal care since October 2022, she found out she was pregnant in July.

  • K is a 21-year-old Caucasian woman. She describes herself as having a medium body build with a fair complexion. She is 5’6 in height and reports her pre-pregnancy weight to be 179 lbs. K has naturally straight blonde hair and blue eyes.

    This is her first pregnancy and she is not in the best situation to provide for and care for a child.

    She was adopted at birth and does not have contact with her bio family. Her family is aware of the adoption plan and is supportive. She had a positive experience with her adoption and hopes the same for the baby.

  • E is a 20-year-old African American male he has a dark skin complexion, with black curly hair and brown eyes. They both did marijuana together and he continues to use. No other known drug or alcohol usage for him.

    No known health information has been reported for him.

    His parents have drug and alcohol problems, but EM doesn’t know any details related to their usage. He has no contact with them due to their usage. He has 3 siblings who are all aware of the pregnancy and support the adoption plan. He lives with his grandma and the grandma does not care for Caucasians, so the baby would not be welcomed by her.

    He is currently unemployed to unable to provide financial support but is a high school graduate and he’s currently working towards an Associate’s Degree to become a Veterinarian.

    He acknowledges paternity and agrees to sign the waiver.

  • EM denies tobacco and alcohol usage both prepregnancy and currently. She reports that she has used marijuana and marijuana gummies during her pregnancy. She reports she would smoke marijuana and take gummies daily, prior to becoming pregnant.

    She reports she stopped smoking in July when she found out she was pregnant, but she has had marijuana gummies since being pregnant. She reports marijuana use 2-3 times during her pregnancy. The last time she took a gummy was about 4 weeks ago (December 2022) and she shared that she has only taken one gummy each time. She denies any other drug use.

    Her biological family has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse.

  • After the placement of the child, a Child Connect account will be set up for the purpose of the adoptive parents and the birth mother to share updates and pictures throughout the child’s minority. The Child Connect website is a secure site, and each party will have a username and password. Other than our agency, nobody besides the adoptive parents and the birth mother will be able to access content uploaded by either party.

    EM is unsure when she will sign look at it but wants it for when she is ready.

  • She will sign her consent/relinquishment in front of a District Court Judge after she is discharged from the hospital. There is no set time frame for consent, it will depend on the judge’s availability and how quickly her attorney can get her on the docket. Until she signs her consent, she can change her mind, but once the consent is signed it is irrevocable.

The home study must be dated within one year of placement; must have copies of physician’s reports/physicals for ALL household members, copies of all available background clearances; three reference letters from non-family, all dated within one year of placement.
